ACTIVE SUBSTANCES (1 capsule)
Bioactive form of vitamin B3 – 202 mg

Vitamin B3
Vitamin B3 (Niacin - nicotinamide acid) is a so-called precursor of NAD – nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide, which means it is needed for NAD to be formed in the body.
NAD is a very important and indispensable substance involved in the cellular energy metabolism and thus also in the functioning of the whole organism.
It is important in the catabolism of fats, carbohydrates and proteins and is also important in cell signalling and DNA repair.

With increasing age, the amount of NAD in the body decreases and ageing occurs, which is, among other things, defined as a decreasing ability to repair defects in the organism and replace damaged or dead cells with new ones.
Vitamin B3 further contributes to the normal function of the nervous system, mental activity, the maintenance of normal mucous membranes and the normal condition of the skin.
Increasing intracellular NAD+ levels affects increased energy production and the regulation of cellular repairs.

The slow, inevitable ageing process has in fact been described as a “cascade of breakdown of resilience or stability induced by a decline in systemic NAD+ biosynthesis and subsequent functional defects in sensitive organs and tissues”.
Ageing is characterised by epigenetic changes, genomic instability, altered nutrient sensing, telomere attrition, mitochondrial dysfunction, cellular senescence, stem cell exhaustion and dysregulated intercellular communication.

In middle age, the NAD+ level rapidly drops to half of the level present in youth.
Many studies have shown that increasing NAD+ levels increases insulin sensitivity, reverses mitochondrial dysfunction and prolongs life.
NAD+ levels can be increased by activating enzymes that stimulate NAD+ synthesis, inhibiting the enzyme (CD38) that degrades NAD+, and supplementing NAD precursors.
