Description

High-quality manufactured rearing lamp with three-stage energy-saving switch

Heat lamps are required in various areas. They are used in poultry farming for chick rearing, providing essential warmth to piglets in cool stables in pig farming. Other applications include warming up dog puppies in the whelping box, very early-born lambs in a cold stable, or even for some reptiles like land turtles in a shelter in an outdoor enclosure. The requirements vary; while the daylight lamp emits light and warmth, and is more commonly used during the day, the infrared lamp provides pleasant warmth without emitting much brightness. Hence, young animals prefer these warm spots for sleeping.

The economy switch on our rearing lamps allows for a 50% reduction in power (e.g., from 150 to only 75 watts). This is not only very energy- and cost-saving but also offers another significant advantage: Depending on the ambient temperature, you can increase or decrease the heat output without having to change the lamp's position.

Three-stage energy-saving switch:
Position 0: Off
Position 1: 50% brightness/power/warmth
Position 2: 100% brightness/power/warmth

Features:

- The shade is made of reinforced aluminium with a diameter of 21cm
- Includes a protective cage
- With three-stage energy-saving switch
- 8 ventilation slots for better circulation and extended bulb life
- Ceramic socket
- Protection class: IPX4
- Includes mounting chain
- Supply line with a 2,5m power cable
- Input voltage: 220V - 240V
- Suitable for infrared heat lamps and for ceramic lamps up to 175 watts Dimensions:
- Diameter: 21 cm
- Height: 38 cm

Tip:
Do not hang the heat lamp too low, as this can cause the pups to dry out. In a normal living room, a 150 watt heat lamp is usually recommended.

In an air-conditioned and heated home, in the warmth of their mother, a litter of puppies probably won't need a heat lamp.
However, puppies cannot regulate their own body temperature until they are around six weeks old, so their ambient temperature must be regulated to avoid hypothermia - especially in vulnerable puppies.
The ideal ambient temperature for newborn puppies is 29-32°C. After about seven to ten days this can be reduced to 26.7°C and finally to about 22.2°C after four weeks. By six weeks, puppies should be able to regulate their own body temperature. Use the heat lamp if you're not able to provide the puppies with those temperatures.

Which heat lamp/bulb for a litter of puppies?
The only right lamp/bulb is actually not a real lamp, but an infrared heater (ceramic lamp/bulb). The reason is quite simple – you do not want the day/night rhythm to be disturbed by the heat lamp. Additionally, white lamps are not suitable because they are very bright and can damage the eyes of puppies when they look into the lamp. Red heat lamps disturb the day/night rhythm less but are not suitable if you are monitoring the puppies with a camera. So, the only option left is the ceramic heat lamps/bulbs (infrared heaters).

Is an infrared heat lamp expensive?
So, a ceramic heat bulb does not emit light, so all the energy goes into heat, and that's exactly what we want. This makes a ceramic heat lamp hotter than other heat lamps, and you need a different holder/socket. You need a ceramic heat lamp with a ceramic socket. If you don't use that, there's a risk that the socket will melt! We only supply heat lamp with ceramic socket!

Bulbs are not included in the delivery. Suitable bulbs can be found in our offer.
